How to Clip on Twitch (and Turn Those Clips Into TikToks and Shorts)
To clip on Twitch, hover over the live stream or VOD and click the clip icon (or press Alt+X on Windows, Option+X on Mac), drag the slider to choose between 5 and 60 seconds, give it a title, and publish. The clip gets its own link on Twitch. It stays horizontal, though, so to post it to TikTok, Shorts or Reels you still need to reframe it to vertical and add captions.

How to clip on Twitch as a viewer
1. While watching a live stream or VOD, click the clapperboard clip icon in the player, or use the keyboard shortcut.
2. The clip editor opens with the last stretch of the stream. Drag the handles to choose up to 60 seconds.
3. Add a title and publish. You can share the link right away.
Streamers can turn clipping off or limit it to followers or subscribers, so if the button is missing, that's usually why.
How streamers should use Twitch clips
Clips made by your viewers are a free signal: they tell you which moments your community found worth saving. Check your clips list after each stream, then use those timestamps as the starting point for your short-form. Ask mods to clip big moments live so nothing slips through.

Streamers can download their own clips from the Creator Dashboard's clips manager, and past broadcasts can be downloaded from the Video Producer page if VOD storage is enabled in your settings. Turn on "Store past broadcasts" so your VODs are kept long enough to clip; how long they're stored depends on your account type.
A weekly stream-to-shorts routine
