One podcast episode is enough content for a week of shorts
A one-hour podcast episode typically contains 10-20 complete short-form moments — a strong opinion, a concrete story, a clear answer to a question the host asked. Most shows publish the full episode and maybe one manually-cut highlight, leaving the rest of that yield untouched.
A practical cadence is 5-7 clips per episode spread across TikTok, Reels, and Shorts, which is enough to post close to daily off a single weekly recording without ever repeating a moment across platforms in the same week.
The bottleneck has never really been finding the moments — a producer who knows the show can usually spot them by ear. It's the mechanical work after that: cutting to 9:16, keeping the speaker framed and centered through camera cuts, burning in captions that are actually readable in a thumbnail-sized feed, and exporting a version tuned to each platform's length.
That's the specific gap AI moment-detection is good at closing — not replacing editorial judgment about what's interesting, but doing the mechanical cutting and reformatting fast enough that a full week of clips comes out of one recording session instead of one clip.
