Facebook Reels in 2026: is it worth posting your clips there?

Facebook Reels is worth posting your clips to if your audience skews older than TikTok's, you already have a Page or a local following, and you're willing to post original content. It costs almost nothing extra when you're already making vertical clips.

The main reason to post is reach. Facebook has a huge, diverse user base, and Reels are surfaced to people who don't follow you. Communities such as local businesses, parents, hobbyists, faith groups and small-town audiences are often more active there than on newer platforms.

The main caution is originality. Meta has said it wants to reward original creators and has cracked down on accounts that repost other people's content. If you're clipping your own long-form video, that's a strength; if you're clipping someone else's stream without a partnership, it's a risk.

Format your clips vertically at 9:16, keep the important content inside the safe zones, and add captions. Aim for a strong first three seconds, and keep most clips under 60 seconds unless the story needs more.

Post from a Page or professional-mode profile so you can access analytics. Watch retention and shares, not just views, and compare against what you see on Instagram and YouTube Shorts to decide where to put effort.

Treat monetization as a bonus. Facebook's creator programs have changed several times and, at various points, have been invite-only or subject to changing thresholds. Check Meta's current requirements in the Professional Dashboard rather than relying on an article, including this one. Payouts per view are typically modest, so the real value is growing an audience and driving traffic to your other channels.

Reuse, don't duplicate. Post the same clip across platforms, but adapt the caption and hook to each audience. If a Reel performs well on Facebook, note what worked and cut similar clips.

OptimaClip exports vertical, captioned clips you can post to Facebook Reels along with TikTok, Instagram and YouTube Shorts, and can schedule them in one workflow.
