Short-form video for financial advisors and accountants: a compliance-aware approach
Financial advisors and accountants can use short-form video to build trust by turning client-education content, such as webinars, Q&As and seminar recordings, into 30-to-90-second clips that explain one idea in plain language. The catch is that regulated professionals must follow their firm's and regulator's advertising rules, so check compliance before you post.
This is general information, not legal or compliance advice. Registered advisors, broker-dealers and many other financial professionals are subject to advertising and social media rules, and firms often require pre-approval, recordkeeping and specific disclosures. Ask your compliance officer or firm what is allowed before you post.
Choose evergreen educational topics. "What is a Roth conversion?", "How does the standard deduction work?", "What paperwork do I need for a mortgage?" are questions clients ask every year. Clips that explain rather than pitch are usually easier to approve and more useful to viewers.
Avoid promising or implying performance. Don't cite past returns without the disclosures your firm requires, don't guarantee outcomes, and don't give individualized advice in a public post. Include a short disclaimer, such as "This is educational information, not personalized advice," where your firm requires it.
Get consent for client stories and testimonials. Rules on testimonials and endorsements vary; check with compliance before using a client's story, name or image, even with permission.
Keep an archive. Many firms must retain copies of marketing content and comments. Save the final clip, the caption and the date you posted, and use a tool or process your firm approves.
Format for the way people watch. Add captions, use a simple background and keep the delivery calm and clear. A 45-second answer to one question is better than a 10-minute overview.
OptimaClip can produce the captioned vertical clips from a recorded seminar or webinar, and you can review each one in full, and pass it through your approval process, before it goes anywhere near a feed.
